Chapter 14 Using SSL and Proxy Connections in Java Clients

This chapter describes security features for Java clients that connect over the Internet or through proxy servers. For more information on Java clients, see Chapter 13, "Creating CORBA-Compatible Java Clients".

Jaguar supports SSL connections from Java applets and applications. In deployment scenarios where clients connect to Jaguar servers over the Internet, SSL can protect sensitive data transmitted over the network. For more information about SSL, see "Security Configuration" chapter in the Jaguar CTS System Administration Guide.

Proxy servers are typically used to isolate computers on a corporate network from the Internet. Connections to and from the Internet must go through the organization's proxy servers. EAServer does not include proxy server software, but supports client connections through proxy servers to Jaguar servers.
